Chicks picking/eating their feathers

HELP! My chicks are pecking all their feathers off. I'm not sure why this is happening. Could they be lacking something in their food?

What are you currently feeding your chicks? Are they plucking themselves or each other?

Some causes of feather plucking/eating are inadequate protein in diet, over crowding, boredom. I am 77 years old and have been around birds my entire life, and have never seen a bird that denuded. Are all of them like that ? If not something may be wrong with that particular bird.

How long have you had this bird and how quick did this happen?

I am feeding them GMO free chick starter that is made at a local farm. It is supposed to be high quality feed. I do have a good many chicks right now, around 50. Not sure why this is happening .... could it be the feed or just them picking on each other??? I need to get this figured out.

Do they provide a feed analysis with that feed ? Your problem might very well be inadequate protein levels in the feed.
