Chicks Pipping at Wrong End of Shell

If you don't know which, candle the egg before setting. You will be able to see the air pocket, that is the large end, or the end to place up.

I look at it this way. if it pipped it is at the correct end..

I'm with you on this.

its so strange my last hatch the majority of the eggs piped the smaller end. One piped and died. I did have a temp spike for about 10 minutes. I wonder if that had anything to do with the piping of the wrong end.

lol! i've had confused little chicks get the wrong end from time to time. they should be fine

Hello guys, I see that no one has posted here in a while, I have a question for anybody who has an answer. I have a chick who pipped at the wrong end of the shell at 9:00 p.m. last night. Im not sure if I should try and help him a bit or just let it be for a while longer. I carefully peeled some shell of around where he pipped to help him a bit. Today is day 22 in inclination. Any ideas or responses will help me so much! Thank you!

I would give it some time unless you notice the membrane drying or getting dark in color. The last one I had like this I ended up eventually zipping all the way around before the chick could make it out. She was upside down and left- right confused. She is still smaller than her hatch mates but doing fine. Good Luck!
