We have 7 babies, all 9 days old. We started out using a red heat lamp (have always used ceramic in the past) and couldn’t believe how badly it kept them awake at night. So last night we changed the bulb to a ceramic one and they were in darkness for the first time and they really freaked out, so my husband got the brilliant idea of putting one of his large bunny slippers in the brooder so they could cuddle up to it 😂😂

Anyways, they loooove the slipper, and 4 or 5 go all the way inside it at once and sleep. I’m a little worried they’ll overheat in there because they’re under a heat lamp inside a huge puffy slipper! Are they smart enough to get out if they get too hot?

It's not so much being smart enough to get out, but able to.
Cut the toe off so it's a tunnel and not a trap. Your hubby shouldn't be wearing bunny slippers anyway.

Agreed on the toe surgery, but hey, if he's man enough to wear fluffy bunny slippers, more power to him! However, he likely won't want to wear those particular bunny slippers again, so you may want to get him another pair ... maybe chicken slippers?
Oh - and we definitely need pics ... not of hubby in the slippers ... the babeez! :D

Also, do some toe surgery on that slipper XD your hubby ain't gonna want it back after it's been through chicks anyway XD. I know I didn't want my stuffed dog back after it was in with chicks :P

This thread is 4 months old... Chicks are probably way past the bunny slipper stage at this point so slipper surgery is no longer necessary.

I do agree though that the pictures are way overdue!
