I feel like I should comment on that "do they have no common sense" thread...
So I'm cleaning today and apparently the almost month old Austrolorp chicks saw something thru the fence on the big girl side of the coop.
The fence is a puppy playpen, but it's only 1.5 inches wide.
They're almost 4 inches wide.
Yeah...so, some managed to squeeze thru but some got stuck. The fattest one got stuck BAD: I might have broken a wing due to her struggling and I know I had to rearrange her insides to get her back thru the fence hole.
Short of warmth/food/water...there's nothing to be done?
I didn't seperate them as I was afraid that would lead to more thrashing and stress.
I now get the phrase 'birdbrain'. Totally.
