I had a brainstorm or maybe a braincloud? My chicks are very messy eaters, probably more food on the ground than down the gullets. I was on my way to Wally world yesterday and passed a pizza place. "Hmm" I thought "pizza sounds good!" Then I remembered the nice big large pizza box! It fit right under my feeder plus a couple of inchs sticking out on each side. My chicks are now using the pizza box as a table cloth and I am eating the pizza! Don't know how the chicks are doing yet but I only have 2 pieces of pizza left. May have to make anouther run into town to get another pizza box. Just too bad about the pizza. I will probably have to eat it too. Life is filled with sacrifices we have to make for those animals that depend on us!

LOL - the sacrifices we make for our feathered friends. That said, yep - raising the feeder is one of the easiest ways to cut feed waste.

Raising the feeder will stop them from flinging it? My chicks are about 6 weeks old and are doing the same thing? You raise as high as possible and they just eat and don't fling?

How's the pizza box idea working for you? I have the same problem! :(
