I have 3 RIR chicks in a brooder, one 2 weeks old, one 11 days old and one 9 days old.

They are well and thriving in the brooder which is at a temperature around 30 - 32 degrees.

We are having a mini heatwave in the UK at present with the outside temperature around 30 degrees.

would it be safe to put the chicks outside on the grass in a moveable pen that we have, just for an hour or so?

Chicks forage with their mothers at just a couple days of age, so it certainly should be safe for a little while, and they will love it. However, chicks can also suffer from over heating! I would keep an eye on them, make sure they have shade, and provide plenty of water.

Best of luck!
