chicks water - medicate

I know about the sugar water but what about any medicine in the chicks water, are you suppose to keep something in their water until a certain age?

I have never added anything to the water, for the chicks.
I am, however, adding apple cider vinegar to all waterers, including the pig troughs.
I use 1 tblsp per gallon.
The vinegar adds nutrients and keeps the slime from developing.
The food you give them, should have medication in it. Medicated chick starter???

Is it OK to put the vinegar in the sugar water?

Use either the sugar or the organic apple cider vinegar. Do not use the plain apple cider vinegar found in the regular grocery. You can purchase the organic at the grocery, but in the health food section. Or go to a health food store. There is a huge difference in vinegars, the most obvious being the organic has the mother in it. It needs also, to say on the bottle, "With the mother". Braggs brand is just one of many. Good luck!!

So I'm assuming that the vinegar takes the place of the sugar! How much of this organic vinegar to you use per gallon of water and what does "With the mother" mean. Sorry, my wife isn't home right now and I don't do much cooking but have no idea what vinegar with the mother in it means!
