My chicks seem to be doing real good. I was checking on them this evening and their skin on their necks down to their wings looked red. Is that from new feather growth? Their brooder is 85 degrees and they seem to be acting fine. I'm new at this and just want to make sure they aren't suffering any?

Thanks
Tee

Mine too there 3 1/2 weeks I picked up one today thinking it was blood but it wasent her sin was red where feathers where loping out just checked onher and feathers are spreading out and red gone there but nowwhere new feather rods are starting. I sure wish my hair could grow as fast as there feathers do

My white leghorns skin seems really pink too. They're 3 wks old also.. maybe it's normal...

I would not worry about it. However, the temperature at 85F for 3 weeks chicks seem high. I have my 85F for 1st week and around 75F at 3rd week. Just keep in mine put the heater at one side if your brooder box is small. They will move away from the heater source if get too hot for them.
