SO pretty! how can you tell their sex while they are so small? Im wondering because I have only raised chicks once and I ended up with one that i couldn't tell the gender until it was 9 months old.

For wing sexing the chicks have to be specifically bred for the trait.

As for the technique used in the diagram it seems absurd to me. I'm fairly certain if you did this to the same chick several times, it's likely to behave differently, not that I'm saying you should it looks dreadful.

In my opinion it wouldn't be any different that offering a child a barbie or toy car and using that to determine gender.
