Hi. I got 8 chicks for myself as an Easter present this year, and oh my what a trip. Did I know that I'd have a coop in a stall in my horse barn and get 8-10 eggs every day. I only eat 6-7 eggs a week so my friends and neighbors are clucking. I have lots of questions about natural vinegar, diatomaceous earth, worms, poop on eggs, free-ranging, mites and more.

Sometimes I can find info on this site and sometimes just Googling. And sometimes I wander around Tractor supply or go to my Agway. My new 7 pound Labradoodle is a great herder of chickens in the barnyard. He rounds them up to go in for the night.

I have been rounding them up early in the evening but since they wander alot, it's a job. So I am starting to let them go in just before dark. No predators yet---still counting 4 Isa Browns and 4 Black Astralorps.

The funniest thing is to watch them hang around the horse in the pasture....Symbiosis.
