Child as a predator (UPDATE, she has returned!!! Pictures after she's had time to relax and eat)

Glad you found her.Now to deal with whomever caused this, so it does not happen again.2 leggers are the worst.

there's 100 home subdivision 1/4 mile down, only a few of the homes have children anymore between ... children that are -lets say 5-14 years old... (able to open the hutch on their own, stupid enough to try to carry off a rabbit)

the ones at the front OR who go for walks on the 'big road' can hear my birds- so that narrows it further- or anyone who has a YMCA membership (widens the potential people)...

So I just need to ask YMCA for last Sunday's visitors were with my BIL's help- (JSO) - and cross it to residents of that neighborhood.

Or just see if YMCA is interested in holding a neighborhood meeting to discuss trespass and vandalism (they should they get it too) and invite all the -very local- familes to start a neighborhood watch... mention what rabbit scratches look like and what happened...

I would put up a security cam,or atleast a game cam. I don't think discussions and warnings are going to phase any who have the nerve to trespass. They know what they are doing.Give it a try though. In the least let the camp know they will be held liable for any children( in their care) that trespass and cause ANY problem.

If a kid trespasses and gets hurt on your property are you liable? Here in Ohio they have the attractive nuisance law,so it is a slippery slope in some situations. I am glad I fenced my entire yard, but kids ARE good at climbng. That is where stinging nettle comes in

Next time I can - I'll get a game cam, I'll set it up with a cover over the sensor I can remove before I leave- no sense in taking endless pictures of me and the pups...

This is a 40' wide back yard... really... that's it.

I really like the sting nettle idea. That and an electric fence, but not a mild one. Any "child" old enough to be off by theirselves is old enough to know better than to trespass and let your animals out. Of course the recent theft of my air compressor and purse may have something to do with my unsympathic attitude.

I am happy that you got your little precious back. May you post the game cam pics since im quite interested of who did this. Also, try a security system. The type i say is that you put a sensor on the door and anywhere else you can. when the kiddie or culpret is back, you will be notified. good luck on finding the baddie

Yeah, no cam till I can afford one- I wish I had that on camera.

I'd put a sonic magnet sensor on the door that I could disable before opening the door (by using an extra magnet) but I'm afraid of hurting bunny ears.

Hmm, i didn't think of that, well, you could put your bunnies in your house when it turns night or make the room super duper think so the waves wont get to them

Well, you can take the bunnies in for the night for precactions and if the person come, your bunnies wont be hurt and be caught red handed
