(At Lord Laboratories children are held in prison-like cells against their will, in between expermiments. At Genesis High students have as much freedom as an ordinary student and are treated well. But since children are kept at Genesis High for their own safety, they aren't allowed to leave.)

Kenya laid her clothing inside the wooden chest and placed her shoes beneath the bed. Afterwards she took a book and begin to read laying on her bed, knowing Alexis needed to be left alone.

Alexis looked up at the clock hanging above the door. The other people would likely be eating at this hour, but she wasn't hungry nor did she wish to go among anyone else right now. Maybe she'd explore later, after everyone had returned to their rooms. Biting her lip, she continued twisting the pinky ring, a habit she had developed not long after being "rescued" by the government people.
