Amaryllis followed along a quiet, direct path. She was free to slow her pace, not having to keep up with Haley who was much healthier than her, with the promise that she would move faster once she regained some strength.

Haley, having rounded the block, took another detour through some back alleys. She paused occasionally to inhale deeply and see what new scents could be picked up. The animal like one she had sensed earlier when she left Amaryllis had dissipated but here and there she thought she had it again.

Dimitri burst out laughing and said when he could form the words, "I love Christmas Vacation! "

"Yasss," Alexis grinned as she did a little happy dance, something along the lines of that stupid dance move that's supposed to resemble Egyptians. "It's THE BEST Christmas movie, is it not??"

"Chocolate is poison to animals, according to the books, I think that transferred over to us." Donella said and frowned, looking down again "I know I can't have any because it makes me sick." The one time she remembered having chocolate, she had passed out afterwards, unable to breath, she just didn't know if that was a human allergy or from the cat.

Laurel blushed with the realization of the compliment. "Tu as un..." She repeated slowly, focusing so much so on the pronunciation of each individual word that she forget the rest of the sentence. She looked to him for help.

(I took French for a semester. So I can't speak it fluently. But know enough. )
