"Chinese health authorities are putting a stop to restaurants serving chickens which have been bitten to death by poisonous snakes and cooked up for a supposedly detoxing meal. The dish, served by a small number of eateries in the southern province of Guangdong and the southwestern city of Chongqing, has generated a storm of publicity and controversy in the Chinese media and amongst bloggers."

Yeah, well many people from India can never get over the temples we build to the eating of cow (picture huge golden arches over the entrance of the temple)

I think the monkey brain meal is the most revolting thing I have ever seen and I cannot imagine actually eating something while it screamed!

I thought the heads were lopped off and they were served cold?

One of the sickest thing I'd seen is the duck in the egg.. I forget the proper name.. It's lightly cooked and eaten a few days before hatching.

The monkey brain can be served cold, but families that can afford a monkey party for a big celebration get a live monkey placed into a specially designed table so the monkey is trapped below the table with his head stuck through. Then they cut open the skull and eat out the raw brain until the animal stops screaming.

They scream for a long time.

That is hands down the grossest thing. But, I have seen the chickens in the eggs let to go rotten and eaten. (They pierce the shell so the chick dies and then let it rot in the shell for a while.) Guhross!

Yeah.. That's a tad off.. and UGH! They do eat live monkey brain.. It's done in Pingxiang, Guangxi.... That's just wrong.

I gag whenever I see balut! I know that there is more than one way to eat monkey brains...all of them ishy.

I saw an article about the dogs they eat in china...they repeatedly electrocute them, because they believe that the torture right before death releases a lot of adrenaline into the meat which transfers to the consumers' bodies as strength. I also saw pictures of a chinese woman who killed a puppy in a very nasty way in order to have it fo supper..... they are nuts.
