Chinchilla with a silkie-big no no or workable???

The biggest problem I would see with the arrangement is Chinchillas are nocturnal, chickens are not. So while the chicken is trying to sleep the chinchilla will be running, bouncing, etc. Also chinchillas will DIE in any temp over 80 or if the tempurature+humidity is over 150. I would reccmend chinchillas stay in the house, the basement is good if possible. They really the love to be between 50-70 degrees.

With wire bottom cages with chins be VERY careful. I had two chinchillas lose a leg because they broke their foot on a wire mesh shelf. I thought the first was a fluke. But after two, I don't have wire bottoms or shelving anymore. I paid $350 each time for an amputation. If they were not my girls pet..... Once they get caught on something they wig out and break their own bones.

-chins cannot live outside
-chins cannot ever eat chicken feed, they bloat easily and would either have an expensive vet bill or die
-chickens can carry coccidiosis which can be deadly for a chin
-like said if they chin gets any moisture in their fur they would probably get fungus which is treatable but can be a pain to get rid of.
-chins like to bounce and could hurt a smaller chicken, it may bite a chicken too you never know.

Chins can be very delicate with very specific needs, they need to be kept by themselves or with another chin not with any other species. Other critters like bunnies etc. are pretty hardy even with variation in their environment but chins are not. I would do a lot of research because even somthing as simple as the wrong or too many treats once can cause them to bloat and die.

here are some great examples of good quality chin cages
no plastic, no wire shelving, no wire floor, untreated pine shelves a proper wheel, proper toys, etc.

If you want to pick it up from Israel, come on over!
My silkie lives inside so no worries there. I've decided not to put them together though mainly due to the chin's nighttime activity stressing my silkie. I've done my research on them & won't be making any silly feed & bedding mistakes. Thanks guys!
