Not sure what to do???
Chipmunks are scratching and picking right along side of my chickens.

My Barred Rocks and my Buff could care less. Once in a while my silkie will chase them out.

Normally I wouldn't mind but they are eating my feed and who knows what they carry. Does anyone know of a humane way to keep them away without hurting the chickens?

The chickens are in a run when unsupervised but free range while I am outside with them. (We have a lot of predators: fox, hawks and owls to name a few.) That is why I don't remove the feed from the run.

I've read about the "bucket of water" method and that is not for me.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Chipmunks sure are cute but around here they are a total nuisance and very destructive. They haven't gotten to my chickens yet but they have dug so many tunnels under my rock front porch that it is starting to cave in. It was mostly all removed about 5 years ago and repaired with new dirt concrete and grout between the rocks but its happening again.

Unfortunately the only thing I've found that will get rid of the furry little critters is a Hav-a-hart trap and a large bucket of water. I have removed 12 or 15 already this summer, about 1 a week, they have to go.

A cat or a small dog with a lot of prey drive to harass them enough to move them on is the only other thing I know of if you don't want to trap or poison them. They are destructive little things if you let them go on. We have them try to move in every couple of years and they always wind up trying to get under the siding of the house, and they tunnel under the sidewalks and around the foundation stones etc.
