Chipmunks

Thank you Tundrachik...
Little chipmunk came running out yesterday when I was searching for eggs. He squeezed thru the fence...
I've got a long rectangular feeder that I put treats or grain in that I need to install up off the floor.
We went camping couple months ago and the little chipmunks were scurrying around like mad. My dd's were feeding them and they were actually picking them up. WILD chipmunks! It was quite thrilling for them!

Yeah, I love chippers, but don't really love or even like squirrels. But both raid the bird feeder. I don't have them here we are a few acres from the tree line but I used too and love them. I would feed them just to have them around

We don't have a chipmunk issue. Goldie, one of our two outside cats, eats them all!

Now, we did have a mouse in the grain this morning...however, after dad chased it out, Flopsy, one of our Blue Andalusians, decided she wanted mouse for breakfast. She never caught it, but by God, she tried.

We have field mice in our shed were we keep our chicken feed. The feed is safe in a nice big lidded container that they will never be able to chew thru...but my birds keep hearing that little mouse in there. I'm wondering when they will find him and EAT him! Wonder if that chipmunk knows that he MIGHT be chicken feed???
My neighbors cat keeps coming over too...sitting in the grass about 10 feet or so away from the ranging flock. Tail flicking side to side...POOR kitty might have to be rescued from my chickens. They keep squawking and chasing it off. It's hilarious...this confident cat RUNNING like MAD when she stalks them too much!

We were all just outside in the front yard and this car comes honking down the road and all 24 chickens RUN like mad to the bushes. In less than 5 seconds they were completely invisible! Reminded me of that Suess Book....Where's MY MOTHER? You know, the little bird who falls out of the nest?? (-:

i dont know if they will eat the eggs or anything but here is a good way to catch them and mice. for chipmunks use a garbage can full size. for mice you can use a waste basket. find a workbench or something that you know they can get onto then put some penut butter or cheese or both on the end of a ruler hang the ruler out over the edge of the work bench to ontop of the garbage can enough so they can walk on it and feel safe for a bit but will without a doubt fall. they go on the ruler and fall into the garbage can from here on out its your call. (chipmunks can easily jump out of a 5 gal bucket so use a tall and steep sided garbage can)

all creatures are made by god but chipmunks were made by walt disney lol a reference to their cuteness
