Hello! Yesterday I noticed my faverolle had the tip of her beak missing. It looks chipped. Also, the feathers that flank her "beard" are missing. When I checked in on her today, she was sitting in the coop panting, with her mouth open. More feathers seem to be missing. This time around her eyes. What's wrong? What do I do? She looks weak!

Ok, just looked in on her again. She's walking around and was pecking at the scratch I just threw around. It looked like she was able to get some, but can't really tell. She's still not closing her mouth/beak. Please help!

did you Dust her for mites? could be mites or bugs causing the issue. I'd give that a try and see if it helps. very odd.. is anyone picking on her that you know of? can you post a picture? that might help with figuring out what's wrong. sounds like it could be bugs. is her breathing normal besides the panting? how do her lungs sound? any cough or mucus? look; listen; and feel for symptoms . symptoms will help a lot with diagnosis. good luck to you!

I have a silkie who's missing some feathers around the face too, but seems to be fine, plus the feathers are coming back on her. The silkies stay away from the dominant bird, a SLW. The SLW use to pick on the faverolle, but seemed to stop when the faverolle started laying. They're all laying now.

I have some DE. Will that work for the possible mites?

I will post a pic as soon as I can. Been having trouble with it.
