I have an Buff O with a chipped beak, what should i do? She seems fine, eating and drinking normal.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! I'm afraid I've not had a chipped or broken beak before. I'm sure if you post in the emergencies injuries disease and cures section other members there will be able to help you. Here is the link ~https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/10/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures
Also if you type chipped/broken beak into the search box above threads should come up on this.

Wishing you the very best of luck and enjoy BYC :frow

Poor baby, you might want to clean the blood off under her nostrils - saline solution would be good for that.

Great, thanks. I feel terrible for her.
Thanks again.

If she is eating and drinking without any problems then it's probably just fine. Beaks are a lot like our finger nails and will eventually grow back out. That is why you see chickens/turkeys rubbing their beaks against objects to sharpen them and wear them down (think of how a cat keeps their claws in check by running them along trees and heaven forbid furniture).

I had a turkey chip the tip of her beak on something and it eventually grew back out. Fortunately is was fairly minor and did not cause any eating or drinking problems.

Welcome to BYC!
