My babies are 3-4 weeks and half have tons of layers of feathers only 2 are still filling in. We live in Florida and days Are 89-95 and nights 76-81 depending. They are in a big brooding box on porch. They were beginning to pant so we moved heat lamp to just nights and they would sleep in far dark corner. So I moved light to angle and a small area gets light but it’s lifted high. They sleep great and quiet. But in morning chirp lots and walk around and fly around. Is this normal?? I always heard chirping means something is wrong. They are eating, drinking, sleeping and playing but man talkative

I'm new to this chick thing, but I can hear a difference in the tone of the contented cheeping of happily active chicks and the whiny, demanding chirp of discontented chicks already.

Maybe it's because I've got four kids and have considerable experience with baby sounds. :D

Yeah I felt like this morning they were louder at me, it was more shade this morning and wasn’t 80 yet. But then they weren’t acting cold.
Could they be bored in their brooder box? They are getting big for sure I have 6 of them.

What breed are they? Some are noisier than others. Mine would walk around with a constant, but quiet, happy chirping. When something is wrong, the chirping will sound different. You should be able to distinguish between their different noises. If they are active, eating/ drinking, and at the right temperature, I wouldn't be too concerned.

I just couldn’t tell today. It was louder but they seemed happy. Normally it’s quieter happy chirps
I worry so much for them.

They are crowded, want treats, and your attention, and I peek out to that big new world out there! Good luck mamma hen!

I think they are crowded for sure. We are building the run and coop tomorrow, but gonna let them run in the run during days. Hopefully happy

what kinds of treats??

I feed mine meally worms, and crickets. Sometimes scratch grains. treats are only 10% of their diet. No more than that.
