It's day 18 and when I went to check the eggs, I heard a faint chirping noise. Then it sounded like I heard another. A little call and response maybe... So I sat down best to them for a good 15 minutes and listened very carefully. I again heard a very faint chirp. So soft that i might be imagining it. My fear is that I HAVE gone crazy and am now imagining chirping eggs. Is it possible that I may have heard a chirp? Has anyone ever heard chirping on day 18? There are no pips yet either.

I am on day 19 I I thought I heard chirping early this morning I turned off the tv and listened for 3 min and I defenetly heard chirping

Yes you can totally hear them chirping! Scared the crap out of me at first but now I like it... good strong chicks chirping away. :)

When you can hear chirping inside of the egg it signifies that the chick has internally pipped. Usually you will see an external pip follow sometime within 24 hours. My last hatch of last year I had my first pip late day 18 and hatched day 19. When you get pips and hatching that early (and they are standard eggs, not bantams) it usually points to the temps in the bator being slightly higher than optimal over the period of incubation.
