It looks a bit like an extreme Black Copper to me. It will be interesting to see what happens as it feathers out but I imagine it will be black with a lot of leakage.

I love that "ghost" barring. Using "ghost" in the way one would reference ghost flames in a car paintjob.Well, as if I weren't already confused my this chick enough, lol. I'm leaning toward the lots of copper leakage and I'm guessing it must be a rooster. There is clearly some baring as well but still holding true to the chocolate coloring and it definitely hatched out of a Marans egg! lol, I will keep it for a few more weeks to be sure it's actually a roo... but if he is, he'll likely be finding a new home. I'm loving the vibrant copper tones though!

I agree the bird is a pullet and probably lacking the melanizers which is leading to copper leakage.
