Getting a chocolate Serama male would be easier for your project, as he will pass the gene to all his offspring. A problem that you'll come across is that they aren't just chocolate. They're chocolate silver duckwing, chocolate exchequer, chocolate mottled wheaten, etc. Join the SCNA website and make your request, or find chocolate owners on the Serama thread here, and see what they have. I see a lot of chocolates at shows, but they aren't the culls you want. I know that I breed monsters (>20 oz.), so I know they're out there.

Hey Liz, I know exactly what you mean, here is my serama that does carry the chocolate gene. He is a tad oversize for serama but worked great for my chocolate project!

Yes you do get other colors, you just have to cull for what you are looking for that best fits your project and move forward. He however did bless me with a solid chocolate pullet which I am very thankful for.

I did not AI, I used him on larger bantam hens and he did the job, I just trimmed really well. It was hit and miss but worth it in the end. I suppose you could AI if need though, I hear it is not that difficult.
