Choking chicken??!?!

Check his crop as well to make sure that it is emptying overnight. Sometimes when crop contents come back up into the throat from a crop sisorder, they may also rattle.

A large dog crate with food and water is good for isolating a sick chicken.

Is food maybe stuck in his throat or is in the trachea something?

If it is respiratory the problem is mucus and inflammation. I was just saying that a sour crop could also make him aphave rattly breathing. You could try getting antibiotics from your vet or a pigeon supply, and treating him. A normal crop should feel empty in early morning, so check it tomorrow to see.
