Choose a quail egg to root for!

Sorry I kinda lost this thread but wanted to update. All 27 are still doing good and growing big and staying pretty. I will get pics asap
Just an update one had to be culled this morning another died this morning and two others are showing symptoms of the same thing but are getting better so I now have 25 I will update again later today with if they make it.

What are their symptoms before death?
The two that died were just very lethargic not moving they also couldn’t seem to move thier legs. The one I culled I guess got picked on for being weak because the top her beak near the cere was missing and the flesh was exposed which is why I culled her. The other one was starting to improve then declined and passed the other two that are getting better just seem lethargic.

So about 3 weeks old? Any bloody diarrhea, how long after they look sick do they die?

I belive the youngest are three weeks the oldest around 4. Nope not that I can tell. Not very long because they were all fine last night I woke up them like that this morning the one that died died probably 30 minutes after I realized it.

I think it’s possible that it’s a vitamin deficiency as the two that died were the smallest and a bit thin compared to the rest so I think they might not have been getting enough food.

Could possibly be bacterial infection, common bacterial issues is navel infections. Chicks are alive one moment, dead the next.

Make sure you are thoroughly cleaning every surface in your incubator, any sponges or flooring used inside the machine. Brooders too, disinfecting between each batch of babies. I'm not sure what else might be getting them, I doubt it's viral.

Also...always wash your hands after handling your adult birds before touching babies, the adults can harbor things to kill your chicks.

Ok thank you so much. I wash everything in between hatches maybe not good enough I guess.

Well once I save up enough eggs (around 30 again) I’m setting more eggs by that time I will have sold or done whatever with most of the babies I have now. So I will end up continuing this hatch-a-long with those eggs or I will make a whole new thread and tag yall
I think I have changed my mind on hatching more for right now. My birds seem to have stopped laying for the season and I do not plan on giving extra light as well as I think I need a break from the little ones for a while.
