A: The starter feed you select for your chicks can have a direct impact on long-term growth and performance.

For growing chicks, from day 1 to 18 weeks of age, protein is an important nutrient. Look for a complete feed with at least 18 percent protein to provide the building blocks the chicks need to grow. The feed should also include amino acids for chick development, prebiotics and probiotics for immune health, and vitamins and minerals to support bone health.

Each of the nutrients in a complete feed plays an important role, as shown below:
