When I was a kid, back in the early to mid '50s my folks fed Chops to hogs. If my memory serves me right it looked like brown coarse dirt. Now days when I mention Chops I am directed to cut corn.
Can anyone explain to me what Chops was/is?

Could be the "chops" they fed were from soybeans, a very good common feed for hogs. On our farm and at the feed store, we buy "corn chops." Never called it just "chops."

From what I can gather, 'chops' was a general term for different things, residual meal from the soybean industry, meal from sugar beets, spent grains from brewing, diced, dried potatoes or something similar to chicken scratch.
