Thanks I think I'll do just that. I hate to send an IOU for eggs but even worse would be eggs due to hatch for Christmas that were all duds.

I don't think being able to do research is cheating.
And I wouldn't ask my person what they want. I already knew what I wanted to give when I signed up. But being able to know where they're from and what might be appreciated (like if they have little kids in the house, or can't do eggs) helps with those little extras.

No one wants to thinks later "Oh, if I'd known I could've sent ____ instead of _____!"
