Christmas in October block Swap

I have a thing for " country" of all types... Whether it be french country....shabby chic, I just love any thing vintage....the squares I showed y'all ended up being some of my favorites that I made...I didn't wanna show them all or nothing would be a surprise.... But anyhow here is a " country" queen size tack quilt. ... made with country, cowboy type fabrics....he is 6,8 so it had to be a whooper! Backed with a decadent,( hard to work with) chocolate colored, rose swirl minky and made for my adopted " son" Tyler. He is a wonderful young man...

What a fun quilt! I'm sure your "adopted son" loves it! I agree on the minky fabric being tough to work with - messy too!

We have the same tastes! I love those same styles. Especially shabby chic and vintage! Where do you find your vintage-vintage like fabric? I did some research on line the other day for some. I found a sight called spoonflower.com. They have some very nice fabric and you can even design your own. I bought the spoonflower handbook and I got to choose a fat quarter of any fabric. I haven't had time to look through the book. The thought of designing my own fabric is so exciting to me!
BTW your quilt is marvelous!! I'm sure your "son" will love it!!! Who wouldn't!

I like it...I think it gives it a country air.....but it is much like horses...I suppose ...once you know what you are looking at....things stick out to you if it seems wrong. Fortunately I don't know much about right or wrong...I am afraid some people will be highly disappointed by some of these blocks...lol some turned out great...some ....eh. But it is what it is and every single one is sewn with love an awe that they are going all over the world. And than you Kass for being such a lovely encouraging force...thank you.
Don't worry about your blocks, non of ours are perfect but they are perfect if they are made with love.

Has anyone every done a french braid, friendship braid, texas braid type of quilt? do you have and pointers to give me?
I have but I used "The quilt in a day" pattern, I gave it a way before I thought to get a pic.

Thank You for your answers Kassaundra and katsdar, about the braid quilt. I guess I will just have to lay it out and see what looks best to me. Rows sewn together or with strips between. That country patch quilt looks very nice. I have some of those western prints myself. The" bob wire" one makes me chuckle. I had so many 3 corner rips in my pants when I was a kid. My poor Mom.

My blocks are done....but I'm not sure I like them all, so I will probably continue with them and send the better ones. Now I have to get going on that mug rug soon.

Awesome quilt for your son! I love adoption too and our family has also been blessed that way.

I would make my life easier and put a strip between them for two reasons, first you could easily do quilt as you go that way, second lining up those seams along the whole length of a quilt I think would be a nightmare

I put strips between and I had 3 rows, I just liked the look better but then it could have been my fabric

Has any one appliqued and quilted fused applique onto a quilt on a longarm? I am looking to skip first appliqueing and then quilting.
