Christmas in October block Swap

I've been working on the crown and cross block. I believe I have the sizes of blocks I need., thanks to my super smart DH! I think I'm going to make the crown in a nine patch and a solid cross. I still have to cut the strips for the half squares, then I will sew a block to see how it goes. Thanks majack for the idea! I am making it off of Rose Smith's you tube video. Her blocks are much larger, but we figured it down to get a 12 " finished block. I think I'm going to enjoy this block. Alot of small squares, but I figure after they are all cut, it won't be too bad.

Thank you karsdar! I did see that one, but I couldn't see the measurements of squares on that site. It might be that I'm on a nook to be online and it didn't show, I'm not sure. I liked the look of the crown on the you tube video as it was done in a nine patch. I thought it looked more like a crown.
How hard is it going to be to find christmas material this time of year? If I go to my DD's tomorrow, I am going to stop at Joanns just to check. There is a Hancocks and Hobby Lobby I can check if I have time. I'm anxious to get started!

Dah! Of course! I've only ordered fabric online once and that was for underground rr squares.

Well, I suppose I should have expected that there wouldn't be bolts of Christmas fabric in April at the sale on Sunday. However I persevered and found these lovely half metres in the boxes.

Must admit that I really like them. I found the red when I first got there at one end of the hall and the red just as I was leaving 2 hrs later at the other end of the hall. But it was a good morning.

Well, I suppose I should have expected that there wouldn't be bolts of Christmas fabric in April at the sale on Sunday. However I persevered and found these lovely half metres in the boxes.

wow those are really pretty and I bet you sat down on your settee (couch) and didn't move for the rest of the night after walking around for 2 hours.

Well, first I had a delicious lunch in a pub called the Bottle and Glass. Don't worry ladies, pubs nowadays are eating places for the most part! Few would survive on the sales of beer. I was with a very good friend of ours, Joan. I might talk her into joining the mug rug swap but she will never do quilt blocks. Her stuff is all one off.
I did take photos of the hall of fabric. The first three are at the beginning and the last one is about 1 1/2 hrs later. There was still another two hours before the sale ended. You can see that the queue for cutting and payment extends from the top of the hall, down the side of the tables and then back up. There is a team of cutters but when everyone is buying lots of different fabrics it all takes time. I met so many people I haven't seen for a while, it was lovely.

I know there are plenty of quilting shops with loads of fabric but this is all half price!
