Christmas lights meet coop and run.

Ok, was just wondering.
Completely understandable, I’ve had some mixed reviews from people with using an “artificial” light. I have had it in there for over a year now, and to be completely honest i don’t think it messes with their “internal clock”. During the winter the light shuts off at 8:30, and they will stay out in the run anywhere between 7pm-8pm, and they’ll put themselves to sleep lol.

During the summer the light stays on until 9:30 but again they’ll go in when they want to!

Back in the "stone age" long before internet and forums like this the people around here that raised chickens for just eggs to sale did have a small about a 40 watt light in the hen house, they would set the light timer in the short fall and winter days to come on about 4am and go off after daylight so it would wake them up earlier and get them eating and moving around rather than go off and leave them in the dark to find the roost. Looks like things have changed as everyone had got more modern. I never have done the light thing so I really don't know one way or the other to give my honest opinion.
