Take this with a grain of, er, sand, because I don't have firsthand knowledge, but I'd read play sand can be too fine. Construction grade or coarser supposedly has softer edges and less dangerous dust than play or landscaping sands. Either way, I'm a little worried about toxins that might come with the sand, even if it's "washed." If we go with sand this spring, I've been thinking we'll keep it off to the side to be rained on for a few weeks before it goes into their space.
Sounds like you're making the most of your acre! I, too, am looking forward to expanding the flock, and negotiations with my SO are ongoing
Fair enough.
Here's to figuring out those pesky parasites. We've had warm, rainy weather, bringing these huge earthworms to the surface, and I've seen our EEs eat a couple this week. It happens so fast that all I can do is cringe. Definitely going to have to stay on top of the roundworm issue.
