chronic ear infections in adults?***AGAIN***

I have constant tonsellitis that gives me TERRIBLE ear aches. That may be a cause to your ear aches. The only reason I don't get mine taken out is because I am terrified of having another surgery. I already had to have my gall bladder taken out when I was 16!

I at one time had to use a headset at work. It caused there to be less airflow in my ear. I started getting chronic ear infections. The family doctor never treated it in a way that made it go away forever. I finally went to a specialist and learned that the initial ear problem caused an auto-immune reponse from my body and that my right ear no longer produces ear wax. With no ear wax the ear isn't waterproof inside. Now I have to wear ear plugs in the shower and have steroid drops when it has occasional problems.

i don't have tonsils, i lost those when i was 5 i think. i have started wearing earplugs in the shower... i am just frustrated beyond belief. and the dr. is out of town today, so i have to see the PA, who has given me the wrong medication for stuff before... i would really rather see the dr., because i need a specialist, or something, but i will have to settle for the PA i guess, because i simply can't tolerate the pain until tomorrow afternoon!!! this sucks... gah! thanks for listening to me whine guys, it really does make me feel better!

Sometimes I get terrible pain in one (or the other) of my ears. I have learned that most of the time it is allergy related. If I am having a lot of dripping going on, my ear will hurt. I mean like a very sharp pain in the ear that goes to the center of my head. OUCH. Ear pain does hurt and I'm sorry you have to deal with it too. This morning I candled my ears, my husband helped. Have you ever tried this? I'm not into "weird medicine", but this is so cool. It doesn't hurt at all, actually it is quite soothing. You will not believe what comes out of your ear. The heat and the shape of the hollow candle sucks gross stuff out. I'm sure this is part of my problem also. Good luck.

I hate to say this, but in some cases tonsils can grow back. I had mine out at 3, I spent the first 3 years of my life with constant ear infections. Also some Dr's depending on how many years it has been would remove tonsils and not adenoids. Might be worth having your DR check it out. When my sinuses start to clog (I am allergic to all growing things) my ears get yucky but no pain

Take an onion and cut it in half. Scrape the inside with a teaspoon to get a few drops of onion juice. Put these drops in your ears. The earache will be gone soon, but do it for a couple of days and it will kill off whatever it is that is causing this.

My sister just had my neice on antibiotics for a whole month over an ear infections that didn't go away. I told her to do this and the ear was better in one day

OMG they can grow back?!?! i know that you have two sets of tonsils, the ones in your throat, and your lingual tonsils, which are on the back of your tongue. as far as i know i still have my lingual tonsils. i am gonna talk to the dr about all of these ideas for sure. whats sad, is that the care around here is sometimes better if you self-diagnose, and then tell them what you think you have. ahh, the joys of google. but really, i am freaking out, because having them removed once sucks bad enough!

A lady I go to church with (she's in her upper 40's) has to have tubes put in her ears even as an adult. You might have to go that route. Better yet, I would try and figure out what's causing the infections. A lot of times it can have something to do with your diet. My daughter kept having chronic ear infections and we finally got tubes put in her ears on a Wed. morning. By Friday morning, we were back in the doctors office with another ear infection. I finally decided I needed to figure out what the cause was and I narrowed it down to cow's milk. She can eat all dairy products (yogurt, ice cream, cheese, etc...), but can't drink cow's milk or she gets terrible ear infections. I think it must have something to do with the way milk is processed. All I know is if I keep her from drinking milk, her ears stay clear of infection. Once she gets to drinking milk again though, her ears get infected within a few days. Just a thought and I hope you feel better soon.

When my neck is out of whack, I get ear infections. If I go to the chiropractor, he's able to relieve some of the pain nearly instantly and the swelling and trapped fluid go down over the next day or two. I've only had one infection serious enough go on to need abx since I started being seen regularly, unlike my several a year before that.

Good luck! I had a nasty one at 9 mos pregnant and went completely deaf -- NOT FUN!

I also have a friend who's husband is a chiropractor and he adjusts his kids when they get ear infections also. They rarely need antibiotics either. That might be worth a shot also! Good idea Sandra!
