We are definitely not thrilled. The guy was shady. At first he said no insurance. Then he said he just didn’t have his card. Then he found a card that had a construction company as the insurance holder..... of a brand new Mercedes? Then he said he would pay cash to fix it. His English was very broken so maybe there was a language barrier issue?

And we live in CA. Cops don’t respond to non injury accidents. Luckily the Mercedes took the majority of the damage and we found out that the RV is a lot stronger than we thought. We are taking it in on Monday.

Our outdoor kitchen wall/door will need to be replaced, possibly our back door (the door to the kids/duck bedroom and bathroom) and the bottom fender thingy that goes around the entire thing was ripped off. We are all safe and honestly barely felt it. My husband, who is constantly looking in mirrors, happened to look right before and saw the guy swerve right into it. He either fell asleep or had to be texting. There was no way he didn’t just not see us. It’s a 38 foot trailer being towed by a long bed, 4 door Dodge Ram. We are only a few feet short of a big rig. We don’t hide easy.
Wished a cop would have shown up! “Yes, Officer! It was very scary! Just look in the laundry basket! Scared the s**t out of the ducks!”

Outside! I’m kidding!
They sleep in the kids’ bedroom normally. (It’s a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom/2 kitchen hotel on wheels). Seeing as we had another couple with us, we put the other adults in their own room and the kids in the living room. Chuck and Buck got to sleep in their pen in the kitchen.

So I called my insurance to start my claim today. We start with all the info...then it happened.
AAA: Was anyone injured?
Me: No.
AAA: Did you have any car seats in the vehicle?
Me: Ummm.... just a laundry basket that was belted in
AAA: Uh, a laundry basket?
Me: Yes. For Chuck and Buck.
AAA: Your children ride in a laundry basket?
Me: Don’t be silly! It’s for my ducks!
AAA: Yourrrrrrr what?
Me: Ducks. The laundry basket is for Chuck and Buck, my pet ducks. You know... quack quack ducks?
After she spit her water all over, and the laughing fit quieted down, she asked if I was being serious.
Me: Ma’am, doesn’t everyone travel with their ducks in a laundry basket?
Then I lost it and started laughing. We had a great talk and finished up with the details and got through the call.
