Chuck gander

Sarah in back and Chuck in front. Chuck's neck is longer and lighter colored.

Sarah resting

Chuck snacking on some green grass we managed to grow!

Sarah butt ;)

They are 9 weeks old (I thought 10 but nope- 9) and Chuck is now honking. Sarah is still little goose raspy sounding. They still really like my husband and I. They come greet us when we go to the pond. :D

Very nice birds

Thanks guys! I am amazed at how they transformed in 9 weeks! These guys are very very chatty and loud. Not as loud when we aren't around though but as soon as they hear or see my husband or I- they bail out of the pond and head right for us. Heads low and honking all the way. I assume they are 'talking' to us. When they get to us they stand up more and then keep chatting and snacking on the grass around our feet. They are really gorgeous to have on our pond though. I would like maybe 2 more of a different breed- I love the shapes geese have. I think I want 2 Buffs. :D Sebbies are gorgeous but the falls/winters here are wet wet wet and muddy muddy muddy. Poor things would be a mess.

Great pics Zoowee...they are lucky to have such a nice pond....i have pond envy! I got mine a larger pool and installed a drain but it isn't a pond! Maybe some day.

Thanks guys! I do love that we have a pond. It definitely removes some of the extra work...of emptying and refilling pools. BUT the downside to the pond is that it is not fed by a stream- it's fed by us. So in the Summer the water evaps and percolates (drains) so signifcantly that we must refill it weekly to every 2 weeks. Which is quite costly. So it has it's perks and it's not so cool side effects ($$$ ouch). We just refilled the pond last night (takes almost a day) so the water is high again. The previous owners obviously dug it out. I am not sure what if anything they lined the bottom with since it drains very well. On one hand it's good because the fresh water we do add helps oxygenate the water (its loaded with frogs and fish) and keep the bacteria down somewhat. Maybe in a few years we can drain the bottom to nothing and re-dig and line with something.
