Absolutely. And chukar and quail are practically the same thing. Except where they're different of course.

I mean no insult, but you've posted an interesting string of questions in the last two weeks.

I don't think there is an age requirement on the site, but I am wondering if perhaps the answers we're providing aren't well tailored to your situation.

Your questions seem to often involve basic care of somewhat exotic animals. I can sympathize, I got my first rabbits at around 12, chickens I had a few years before that. And by the time I went to college I had to find homes for quail, pheasants, goats, and a whole menagerie.

I suspect that a better approach is to start with a really rock solid pet for which there is a wealth of information available. Work up from there as your tastes and interests, time and finances allow.

A bearded dragon makes an outstanding first pet. If you really want an avian pet, button quail do nicely in the house, and can be fairly hardy and relatively low maintenance.


Clint's Reptiles on YouTube is a fantastic resource for relatively straightforward but exotic pets.

Keep in mind that the cost of acquiring the animal is usually dwarfed by the first year's containment, feeding, and medical care.

You have to be 13 or older to join. And for minors, listing exact age is not allowed for safety reasons. But I do suspect this person is younger for sure.

But if you're actually seeking an unusual pet, the community here might be better able to assist you if we know more about what kind of requirements you've got for a pet, what limitations you might be working with, and what a success looks like to you.
