Circa 1945 Coop

Hey Woody,

That is a really cool coop. Wish I had it. I have an old one too but it is not in very good shape at all and isnt rustic looking like yours. Keep it original it looks great.

Absocooply cool!! Woody, you found a gem!

That's the very reason I build the way I do......even if it's "just a chicken coop". Too much in this world is disposable, even buildings. Enjoy & please keep the pics & updates comin'!

Tamarack is the only conifer that shed its needles in the fall. It grows in swamps. Its very rot resitant. Years ago they used tamarack for making corduroy roads through swamps. They would lay them down next to each other and then cover them with dirt. There are lots of them still around here. After they dry for so many years, it's hard to drive a nail it. I may be doing a lot of drilling. Woody

Fabulous coop woody! I love the old worn look!!! I am sure your girls will be quite happy in there. Can't wait to see how it turns out for you

Thanks for sharing it!!!

Mine was built in 1935. The basic shape is the same as the one pictured and it has been kept up over the years. I'll try to get a picture of it tonight.

Love it!!!

I must take pics of some of the really old coops are this area. Have to ask first , they are in peoples backyards!! lol
