The disease is called Circovirus and is highly contagious. Did your vet test the dove? A blood test?
What is the condition of the feathers that caused them to think this? The other symptoms? Did they test the blood for deficiencies of vitamins as well?
Did you use an avian certified vet? (I'm in the Houston area - you can email me if you need a list.) Did the vet prescribe any treatment?
Here's a pigeon article that might be of use to you since pigeons and doves are so closely related:

You might contact the people at Foy's Pigeon supply and ask him if he has anything that might help support, or if they know more about the disease. They're quite helpful and carry a lot of European medicines that aren't available here and are progressive.
Also if you intend to keep her as an inside pet, you might consider things that generally boost immunity against a virus. I'd again look at Foy's catalogs for teas, etc, that might do this. Ask him. He should know.

Again please feel free to email me. I have exotic birds and can get information on vets for you, or on supplements, etc as I had a bird believed to have an auto-immune disorder or virus a few years ago and had to do some serious research on it.
I hope this helps.
