City boy out in the country

Hello there.

Just moved from the city to 2.5 acres in a more rural area and am excited to get chickens. Here are my plans:

1) Begin Mealworm Farm (see my post soliciting container advice here: Mealworm Farm
2) Build coop (I do some woodworking)
3) Get Chickens
4) Enjoy Fresh Eggs
5) Begin Black Solder Fly Colony (2023)

I have a ton to learn and I look forward to engaging with this community throughout the process. I'm in NC near Charlotte if there are any local experts that I can meet and learn from directly.

I in NC too in the eastern part of the state. Sounds like you have a great plan! Especially the building the coop first and then getting the chickens. Chicks grow soooo fast.

This is a wonderful place to learn about all things poultry. Check out the forums. Great folks here to learn from and ask any questions you may have. Everyone here loves pictures so as you are building take lots of pics. Of course we love chicken pics too!
