Hi
I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself my name is Sonya I live in a sub in Charlotte NC I just turned 39 and am finely able to do something I have dreamed of doing since I was a child raising chickens again. I was a child the last time I helped raise chickens at the time we had hogs and chicks but I have wanted chickens for the past 20 or so years. I am currently the proud mother of 8 full grown chickens and three chicks. I came about having chickens in a vary odd way but am vary happy now that I get to enjoy them every day. (the back story) My boyfriends father had a stroke in April of last year and we had to move in with him to provide his daily care, to my surprise he had 9 chickens two roosters and seven hens in his backyard in a small coop. When I'm not giving him care or working I am slowly learning the breeds and the temperament of each of them and in working with the chickens remember why I wanted to raise chickens. I have read several reviews of others here and guess I am blessed with a verity of chickens with a varied assortment of temperaments and personalities. I hate that my father-in-law is unable to participate for the most part with the care of the chickens but I do involve him as much as possible with the collection of the eggs and being able to sit and watch the chickens seems to help sooth the wild beast inside of him making it easier to give him great care and for some reason even though it is another task for me and another job I enjoy them immensely and am very happy to now call them my own and love them all. I am in the process of identifying the breeds that we have and will soon post pictures of our boys and girls. I am so glad to be a part of this community and look forward to all the stories and information and look forward to getting to know fellow bird brains!
Sincerely
Sonya
