Hi everyone. I am in TN originally from Miami, FL. Well, I have 3 hens (my ladies) and a rooster( The Champion named by hubby). We had 4 hens but I had to take one out of her misery. One day the other ladies started pecking her and then the rooster got inot it and we bandaged her up, and 4 days later same thing. So we have pretty much learned alot.

Well Just wanted to say hi...

Gotta tell you right up front: You need more hens! You've come to the right place to become chicken-addicted.

Seriously, though, a few more, like 8-12 hens, will usually spread out the roo's affections sufficiently that no hen gets over-mated. My flock of 20 pullets and one cockerel produces mostly fertile eggs, but even with that ratio, he has a couple of favorites that are getting the feathers worn off their backs.

Sounds like you may "need" a few more hens...to feed that addiction! You came to the right place.
