I'm thinking dried peas and lentils are the same thing, little green or yellow peas that need like 45 minutes to cook thru? If so I've made tofu lentil loaf with them (enough BBQ sauce it's edible)?

Interesting! i've never had it..it may be good though! Try it!

So will tamale masa work for corn bread? I've never made it before, I think I've eaten it before at thie ribs place he took me to when we dated.

On the cornbread, masa might not work very well, but you can get a box of cornbread mix in the flour section (usually Jiffy brand, at least here) that makes a small pan of cornbread. Great for a beginner.

Masa is intended for making tamales. Different grind, but it might have lime or something in it, don't remember. If it is only corn meal it would work OK, maybe....

Masa is the corn flour that's used to make tamales and corn tortillias, and in mexican dishes. Ok I know what jiffy is! We use that when the kids make muffins.

Soak the beans in water that you have boiled for about 1 hour. A great method is to put in crock pot over night afterwards with the bone. I agree cornbread, especially some mexican cornbread. The bomb.
