(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Totally new! Though my fiance has had chickens and other poultry as a kid.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

None yet. Still building the coop :)

(3) What breeds do you have?
Thinking of bantams- maybe Easter eggers? I am still open to suggestions. I live in a cold climate so hardiness is a must

(4) How did you find out
about BackYardChickens.com?

Whenever I googled a question about chickens this forum was always in the results somewhere.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love knitting and crocheting. I also do agility with my dog, Gen. I also love anything outdoors, from hiking and kayaking to yard work and gardening. I am also a huge nerd and like video gaming and board games etc.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My household includes a dog, a cat, and a fiance (getting married in June!) :)
I am an RN and just bought my first house this past year (in a city that allows chickens!!)
I live in Wisconsin and my chicken permit allows me 4 backyard hens, zero roosters. I'm currently working on building a coop/run combo according to some free plans I found on Pinterest. Working out okay so far, it helps that the fiance is well versed in power tools and future mother in law has let us borrow her table saw. :)

Hello BBZZZZTT. Welcome to BYC! There is tons of info here and very good people to help you on your journey as a new chicken owner. :)

If you want to get the most out of BYC, I suggest you do the following:
  • For general education, spend some time browsing the Articles link above and possibly the Learning Center. You will find excellent information for both newbies and long-time chicken owners there.
  • When you have specific questions, most of the time a quick search will come up with the answers.
  • If you don't find anything useful that way, post your question in an appropriate sub-forum. People here are very helpful and will answer your question even if it has been asked 100 times before.
Enjoy your time here.
