City Slicker Goes to the County Fair (somewhat picture heavy)

@newchickychick
When I saw these miniature cuties I thought of sweet soft fluffy Buttercup and crazy cool Cranberry.
Let me just say, I almost :ya (but there were crowds so I kept it in) especially when I saw that tiny little fella standing like a short little proud man. Then he crowed and I just :th

How are the babies growing?

So cute!

We sadly had a bad heat lamp incident the other day and lost a handful of chicks. </3 The Seramas were in the losses and I'm devastated. Hubby had moved the heat lamp into the brooder to make it a lot easier for us to move the brooder/open it, but the heat lamp ended up falling and I wasn't able to notice until I got home with our son hours and hours later, but by that point lethargy had hit those small babies too hard and the lamp itself got a few of them. :( It's been a month (year, honestly) of one thing after another and it's been difficult to pick myself up and dust myself off so to speak after this. Buttercup however is doing very well!

Truly. </3 But we're going to get more Silkie eggs soon (hopefully try again with Seramas if I am less afraid...) and we're definitely naming one Cranberry. It was our biggest chick loss ever at once (and we've really not lost many for the amount of chickens we have) so hubby's trying to convince me to get back in the saddle. Cranberry was the most perfect name. But I'll send updated pics asap of sweet little Buttercup. 🥰 (Who I think is a frizzle!)

Smiling through my tears. Thank you for taking good care of little Buttercup and thinking kindly of Cranberry. Looking forward to your pictures. You'll have more babies when you're ready. 🫂

Now to go look up what a frizzle is.
