Got my yearly rooster fix. Here's some of my favorites.

Then of course there were all sorts of other barnyard critters that made my citified heart wonder why on earth I'm not in the country.

I also enjoyed looking through the food, flower and grain harvest barn which was next to the canning and cooking barn, the quilts and crafts barn which was next to the FFA food court (tastier looking than the food truck fare out by the rides) and looking at all the tractors and implements from modern through at least the past century. There was even some fellas who'd set up a forge and anvil where they were happily banging away at their craft making metal decorations and doo-dads and chatting away with anyone who stopped by. I stood downwind purposefully hoping to bring home some of their smoke on my clothes. All-in-all, it was quite enjoyable and I encourage everyone else to get out and enjoy the fair. Personally, I usually skip the State Fair even though it's only about a 20 minute drive from my home. It's just too big and exhausting for my liking but the local County one is just right.
