We were blessed to be able to incubate and hatch chickies in my classroom this spring. We ended up with four chicks that my students have been able to watch grow and develop. The only problem? We don't know what breed they are. It's not that it really matters to us, but we are the curious type. Here are several pics of the same four. Two are developing plumes on their heads. One is getting reddish tint to feathers on its chest. Any help is much appreciated!

For the one developing red feathers, it could be a black sex-link
As for the crested ones, polish cross?
The last one could also be a black sex-link, but I'm not sure, maybe a Australorp

Do you think you could take pictures of each chick in better light? It is hard to tell which are crested and which has the red on its chest by the pictures.

This is baby "Miracle." She had a rough hatch and, yes, I broke the A#1 rule and helped her out. But she's fine, people, she's little, but she's fine. :) Although the mohawk gives me suspicion she might be a "Milton."

Black feathers, white under and around neck is still downy.

This one is camera shy...this is the best I could get. It has a very developed pink thing on it's head and a little mohawk.

This one has black, green-ish feathers and has the reddish thing going on on its chest.

Do these pics help?

1- Looks like a polish cross still

cute little guy/gal

2- Australorp

3- Polish cross as well, looks like a boy for sure

4- Black sex-link, and since it is most likely that breed, pullet.

Good luck, they are all wonderful breeds (I have had all of them!)
