classroom hatching again....my last hatch.. :(

I did candle...and didn't see anything. I figured it'd be best to throw out and get new eggs. However, the 4H lady was against that and said that other classes looked the same way and ended up with some chicks...So *sigh* We'll see! I think I said up above, the other teacher doing it gave me 6 of her "good" ones so we should at least get 6 babies out of the......30 eggs in there. I also have the dozen in a second incubator.

Are you candling from the top of the egg with a strong light in the complete dark? That is the best way to do it and you can really see the veins and stuff.

It was neat to show the kids from desk to desk the veins and the blob that was moving around.

I do have to admit that the last 2 hatches I have had were just terrible! I was so dissapointed. So after that last ordeal, I am finally just at my last hatch and we will see what turns out from this one.

The hope is still there....so far nothing for me...1, possibly 2 pips for the other teacher (as of not quite 2 hours ago, so there could be more now!)

We have two babies and two pips and one zip right now. The date is actually tomorrow, I thought it was today. I hope you have much more postive results than you think you will,,,, our fingers are crossed!

It is hard to do this when I wanted a hatch so bad and then give it to a teacher that does not know much about hatching. uhhhhh....

Ok so day 24 and 2 hatched!!!!!! AND tons of pips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good greif, I think I must of had the temp way to low! akkkkkkk!!!!!!

The two that hatched are frizzles from frizzledhen and are dark. Cute as a button though!

Please lots of fingers and toes crossed for the rest of the hatching! There is a huge pip in a blue orphinton!!

Did you help any of the pips along? Or are they still going? We had our last hatch for now last week and we had 28 out of 31 so not too darn bad!

I only had 1 pip.....and she/he didn't make it out before dying

The other teacher only had 4 hatch....and since 1 has died

It had the yolk (we think) still on the outside....it dried up but never went in. She took that one home and left it in a box under a light where it wouldn't get pecked on by the bigger chick that was pecking on it at school....it was happy and running around, eating, and drinking...and she found it dead this morning.

This time I have not helped and pretty much just sitting on my hands....being a good mommy hen.

I have had terrible luck with the last two batches of eggs, lets hope these keep up the good work!
