Clean a Poopy Roost?

Hi Everyone,

What is the right way to clean a roost in the coop? And how often? It's getting completely covered in poop--should I clean it in a bucket of water with soap, or dry brush it off with a wire brush...I'm just looking for an efficient way to do it.

I use a paint scraper. Then scrub it with soap and water, let it dry and paint it.
It has to be clean to ever be able to disinfect.
Someone once said, "you can't wash a turd."
