Plastic waterers in sunlight will grow green fast. Can you set it up in a shadier spot? That will help. Green algae adds flavor; chickens drink out of puddles all the time!
Rinse it out often, and brush it out fairly often, and don't worry about it. Daily water changes are good; at least every other day, or you will have mosquito larvae in there, which is worse.

A shady spot helps a lot, and so does an opaque container. No sunlight, no algae. I haven't done anything more than rinse my waterer before refilling for 2 years now and haven't had any algae issues.
