Found a really nice set up for using 55 gal drums for watering my chickens but I'm wandering what is the best way to clean a used drum so it will be safe for my birds? thanks

Got it from a farmer it had something in that cleans dairy cows teats

I would assume then that cleaning it shouldn't be a big issue. Soap and water. Perhaps a vinegar or hydrogen peroxide rinse? I'm not exactly sure, but this is what comes to mind. I don't know a thing about dairy cows.

I think I'd make sure that whatever it previously held was non-toxic.

Log onto the WWW and find the plastic code for used plastic containers. Since the barrel in question was used to ship and store a chemical used for cleaning the milk faucets of dairy cows I seriously doubt that it contains anything terribly toxic
